The Executive Order, signed at the US Environmental Protection Agency by Donald Trump, on March 28th, 2017, will roll back the significant gains made by the Obama administration with the signing of the Paris Agreement and the introduction of the US Clean Power Plan. It will reignite struggles over the use of coal as an energy resource.
Tom Steyer, President of NextGen Climate, argues these actions represent an assault on American values and endanger the health, safety and prosperity of every American”.
Ken Kimmel, President of the Union of Concerned Scientists, states, “the wrecking ball that is the Trump presidency continues. The Executive order undercuts a key part of the nation’s response to climate change”.
These attacks on the international order enshrined in the 2015 Paris Agreement represent a threat to the global climate community and an assault on the welfare of all peoples.
Erik Solheim, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program, “science tells us that we need bolder, more ambitious agreements”.
We the people say, this cannot stand. Mr. Trump. For those of us who are citizens of the United States and living in Switzerland, you are not our President.
The citizens of Switzerland and other countries of the world ask you, where is your leadership?
